THE SISTERHOOD: New Reality TV Show Takes A Look At Church Pastors’ Wives

Church pastors’ wives, commonly known as “first ladies,” have been the subject of a lot of conversations on social media as a result of a new TLC reality series, “The Sisterhood.” The series focuses on the lives of five pastors’ wives from Atlanta.

Whether you love or hate the series, it draws attention to a special bond that, unless you have it, you don’t get it.

An article in this month’s “Essence” magazine explores that sisterhood and how spiritual women can uplift and support pastors’ wives. We’re joined by the author, Sophia Nelson, as well as the co-authors of The Sisters in Faith bible, Michelle Clark Jenkins and Stephanie Perry Moore.

I am a first Lady Pastor wife and this is so NOT ME….actually it is very degrading. It causes people to look at us in a very different way.

I need to REPENT, a friend of mine goes to Oasis. So we went to visit last Sunday and the teens came out saying that they worked with another ministry and it was good to see young people involved in outreach, BUT they put a song on and the teens started to dance on the pulpit to an instrumental version of BLURRED LINES????

If you want to watch sermons and listen to church music, there is religion channels for you. Why can't these women act the way they want? Be themselves and not care what the public thinks but at the same time respecting God and all that stuff.

As for the title first lady, where is that in the bible?Ephesians 5:22Wives, submit to your own husbands as to the Lord.Colossians3:18 says the same thing.Titus2:5, 1peter3:1
1 Corinthians 14:34 Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says.

  13. Alyisha Main says:

I thought it was was God who is supposed to be elevated. not tman/woman caring about their image. The churches are the biggest sin bucket on earth. & has nothing to do with God or Christ, but their father the devil. John8:44-4544 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

The show is a hot-mess!!! Everybody wants a check by any means necessary. Unfortunately there are MANY black women (1st lady or not) that do act this way. Women of God that I know personally (1st ladies or not) do NOT behave this way at all…. Ask yourself WHY didn't Taffi Dollar get on the SHOW? Was she asked? Did she refuse? If so, then why? Hmmmm……

  26. ethiopianhabesha says:

Thank you Mr.Martin and ladies on the panel. Amen for "keeping them honest" as you, Mr.Martin would say in regards to the the lives of "First Ladies" versus this made for tv-mess. No, no "First Lady" is perfect, and yes, a few are indeed "ignant", however, this monster TLC has created—yikes! TLC has exposed the fact that these "sisters" are in need of sound Biblical doctrine, Discipleship training and Leadership development. *Mr. Martin, tell your wife/pastor "Happy Belated Founders' Day!"*
