I, too, am of the old school Act of Contrition and although I remember this version being introduced about the time we dropped "Holy Ghost" in all our prayers, I still prefer the old wording, even with its dire message of the pain of Hell. Love my old time Catholic prayers.
i been praying for 3 hours now
I like my old prayer better, that's not to say this prayer is not good too. I learned it this way : "O, my G-d, I am heartily sorry for having offended thee and I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of Heaven and the pains of Hell. but most of all because they offended Thee, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve , with the help of Thy Grace, to confess my sins, to do penance and amend my life, Amen.
