5 Bible verses which are great discerners of the heart: Faith alone or faith + works?

In this video, 5 Bible verses are discussed which are often used by those who believe that faith + works are required by God for salvation. These verses are covered to show the spiritual blindness caused by misplacing one’s trust in themselves as part of salvation. This video will begin to reveal that pride and self-righteousness are major sources for the twisting of the words of the Bible by many. In this video, 1 Cor. 6:9-10, Mark 16:16, Gal. 5:4, James 2:10, and Matt. 7:21-23 are discussed in this context. Simply put, a heart of underlying fear, pride, and ultimately unbelief lead to the inability of understanding the Bible or spiritually discerning the good news of Jesus Christ. Thus, the verses covered in this video are a good discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

  1. Laurie Studer says:

It never ceases to absolutely astound me the shocking lack of confidence many have in the Word of God. So very sad… His Word is Truth! "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." ~ Hebrews 4:12
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. ~ Romans 1:16
Our God is not a man that He should lie; He is incapable of lying! Praise God for the indescribable gift of His Son!!!

  3. eberle jr. Michel says:

Praise the LORD. it just boggles my mind to no end, that someone could listen to/read/hear James 2:10 and walk away thinking that they can and are able to accomplish keeping the whole law in its entirety. boggles my mind. God bless. Agape love

  4. Follower Of Christ says:

Amen, brother. By His grace we are saved, through faith, and not of our own works, lest any man boast.

  5. Maria Wiebe says:

Amen to that! Praise God for you! It's a great privilege to know you Jack! You are true believer in Christ!
This last year, the Spirit of God has taught me some greater and deeper things of the sin. And one giant light bulb I got through Paul Woodward. This guy has got some big nuggets lol
Remember the verse where Paul said that the sin was before the law even was given? So what is the sin if not stealing, homosexuality, prostitution, killing, etc? Well isaiah was one of them who received it. That's why he said in isaiah 64 that our righteousness is like a filthy rag. Like the wind our sins sweep us away. Our sins are our own acts and ways of life in the secular and religious creeds and ideas. Paul Woodward did a video on king David who confessed his sin. which was his own acts and ways when he took matters in his own hands, when he had the husband killed and took his wife. The sin wasn't that he had killed the guy, but that he acted independently of God and didn't lean on him. God had said to him: don't you think I could've given you what your heart desires?
So what makes a person a reprobate, an adulterer, murderer, liar, thief, fornicater etc? Well someone who relies on their own righteousness. It's as simple as that. Paul said that some of you were like that but are now sanctified. Why only some? Cause a lot of them are weak and hungry sheep who don't know if they'll ever make it. They're not proud in their own righteousness. But the ones who were like that were the proud and rich in their own righteousness and think that they can make it by earning their salvation. That's what some were and that's what a lot of people are today. that's the wickedness that Jesus said would increase. just like he said that whoever climbs up some other way, is a thief. And this is what you and I know, is being preached at the pulpits. And they absolutely hate us for preaching OSAS and the confidence in the blood of Christ. which makes them murderers since they hate and constantly attack the true brethren.
Jesus never called the prostitute a fornicater nor wicked but called out the Pharisees as such. you see that? The sin that is actually sin before God is hidden. that's why 2 Thessalonians 2 calls it the mystery of iniquity. Not visible to the carnal eye. See how everything literally has been twisted? It's crazy to wake up to this and see the clear picture when you rely on his righteousness and not your own…sorry for the long post again. I always get so carried away lol

  6. Jesus Paid It All says:

Mark 16:16 is a passage that is quite easy to explain. It DOESN"T say those who believeth not and are not baptized are not saved. It just says those who believeth not. The Jews were always looking for a sign, so that was the point of the baptism…an outward expression of their faith. The baptism is a sign for the Jews, not believers in the church age. Good video!

  7. Love Conquers All says:

I thought we should walk like Christ and emulate His walk as we want the full armor of God through prayer, study and washing and growing in knowledge as there is so much info to cover. We know only in part until the Perfect comes. I've had baptism on my mind simply because I want to follow in Jesus's example. I belong to no church. I had to unlearn catholic and Jehovah Witness indoctrination from my youth so I approach the KJV with new eyes some 25+ years later.

  8. RL Fiar says:

I'm much more familiar with more subtle, backloaded works, Lordship Heretic churches than these more overtly legalist churches. Primarily, that works are robotically automatic if you are saved, and therefore lack of works proves lack of salvation, and you are therefore a false convert.
